V-Ray 3.6 for Maya features Hybrid Rendering

Chaos Group has released the latest version of its industry leading renderer, V-Ray for Maya.

V-Ray 3.6 for Maya features Hybrid Rendering

New features in the updated version include the addition of hybrid rendering technology, which enables renders to be split between GPUs and CPUs. Cryptomatte compositing -  an automatic ID matte generator - has also been introduced with the aim of saving time when compositing in NUKE or Fusion.

Hybrid Rendering

V-Ray rendering hybrid boosts the user's computing power by splitting the rendering workload between the GPU and CPU, resulting in identical rendered images no matter the hardware. 

Better Compositing

An improved Light Selection Render Element enables users to fully render any source of light or group of lights, as well as global illumination, reflections and refractions. 


To support transparency, depth of field, and motion blur Cryptomatte automatically creates ID mattes, reducing compositing time for NUKE and Fusion users.
