Troubleshoot: Windows 10 Updates and NVIDIA Driver Rollback

With the latest batch of Windows 10 updates it seems an NVIDIA driver update has been bundled in - the cause of some technical problems for a few of our clients.

This update appears to be refreshing both dual and single monitor set-ups by creating a third “virtual" screen called "HP Monitor" while de-selecting your secondary (and in some cases the initial monitor).

We’ve had a few calls from customers struggling with this very problem and we wanted to share our solution.

There are several ways to fix this issue. The most effective solution so far is to roll back to an earlier version of the NVIDIA driver.

A more heavy-handed solution would be to roll back the Windows 10 updates altogether.

If you can get to the NVIDIA control panel you can de-select the HP Monitor and re-select your secondary monitor.
