The Skills Show 2017

Last week we attended The Skills Show at the NEC in Birmingham, the UK's largest skills and career fair.

The show gives young people an insight into various industries and professions that they might want to pursue. It covers everything from technology and engineering to cookery and healthcare, with hundreds of hands-on demos.

We joined Access:VFX, a cross-company initiative that promotes diversity and inclusion in the visual effects industry, to showcase the tools used in all mainstream post-production houses. Our setup included the industry-standard HP Z440, Z640 and Z840, all paired with 27” Dreamcolor monitors.

It was truly inspiring to see enthusiastic attendees of all ages and backgrounds taking an interest in VFX and its real-world applications. And it’s fantastic that we get an opportunity like this to promote diversity in such a traditionally London-centric industry.

You can find out more about Access:VFX and their work by visiting the website and following them on Twitter.
