Bringing the conversation from SIGGRAPH to London, TechTalks is back and this year it’s even bigger. Taking over BAFTA for two nights, there’ll be presentations from the major studios and from our CTO Lee Danskin.
London ACM SIGGRAPH organise this event, and it’s run by volunteer artists so the focus is squarely on the VFX community. Autodesk are sponsoring.
The team also host a monthly BYO Animation event, where animation supervisors donate their time and expertise to critique clips on artists’ laptops. We’re helping bring BYOA to TechTalks with HP workstations and Wacom Cintiqs, so if you’re an animator then don’t miss this opportunity to get your work reviewed.
You can read Lee’s thoughts on this year’s SIGGRAPH in his post. His presentation at TechTalks is about cloud rendering – how it’s being used now, and how soon we’ll start seeing companies that are “born in the cloud”.
Other presenters include DNeg, MPC, Disney and Autodesk. Virtual reality was the talk of the town in Anaheim in July, and that’s reflected here too in a range of VR experiences.
Look out for us at the event. We’re running a competition with an HP Z640 as a prize, so this is not one to miss out on.
TechTalks takes place on 31 August and 1 September. Tickets will be available on the London ACM SIGGRAPH site.
