Star Wars: The Force Awakens wins the 2016 BAFTA for Best Special Visual Effects

Monday, 15 February 2016

Our congratulations go to Chris Corbauld, Roger Guyett, Neil Scanlan and Paul Kavanagh for their BAFTA win last night. Roger Guyett particularly thanked Ben Morris and Mike Mulholland at ILM’s London office – which we kitted out particularly for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so we’re feeling a bit proud too.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens wins the 2016 BAFTA for Best Special Visual Effects

Among the nominees was British film Ex Machina, from Double Negative and Milk VFX. Milk’s Head of Systems Dave Goodbourn has been good enough to join several panels we’ve hosted recently about software defined storage and the Google Cloud Platform. When we caught up with him and the team last week they told us how excited VFX Supervisor Sara Bennett is that she has also been nominated for her work on this film for an Academy Award. She'll be jetting to LA for the Oscars, and we wish her the best of luck.
