Last night’s BAFTA Awards saw MPC win another accolade for their work on The Jungle Book.

Huge congratulations go to the 800-strong team of artists and designers at MPC Film in London and Bangalore, as well as teams from Weta, for the latest recognition of the live action version of Kipling’s classic.

Receiving the Special Visual Effects BAFTA on behalf of MPC, VFX Supervisor Adam Valdez said, “I’m thrilled to accept this BAFTA on behalf of MPC’s team of more than 800 talented artists across the globe. It was a privilege for us to have the opportunity to collaborate with our amazing director Jon Favreau and the guys at Disney.”

Creating 224 unique animals and placing them into complete CG environments also required the team to develop new software to simulate muscles and fur.

“Delivering that many photo-real shots is no small task,” comments Lee Danskin, Escape Technology’s CTO and former Deputy Head of 3D at MPC. “The technical requirements alone are awesome, and what the artists have done is really amazing.”
