The latest version of the industry-leading crowd simulator brings a host of new features to users, including a universal plugin to allow virtually any third party vendor, 3D tool, or rendering application to implement Massive support.
Originally developed by Weta Digital to use on The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, Massive quickly became the go-to package for AI-driven crowd simulation. Massive Prime, the high-end version of the software, will ship with the new universal plugin in the new release. It will enable not only commercial renderers and 3D packages to integrate with Massive, but VFX houses will be able to use it with their own in-house tools.
While a release date has yet to be announced, Massive have said that it will likely be this year. All new features in version 9.0 will also be rolled out in Massive for Maya and Massive for Max, with anyone buying a Massive within a year of the 9.0 release receiving the update for free.
