Epic Games, makers of Unreal Engine, have been on an unreal epic journey recently.
Not content with acquiring Joe Alter's Shave and a Haircut and releasing it for free, they’ve done the same with Quixel Megascans.
If that’s not enough they’ve also added Unreal Studio to Unreal Engine, allowing a much easier way to pull in CAD data with its DataSmith plugin.
Epic are currently running a sold out event for Unreal Engine at the ExCeL centre in London, so expect a wave of presentations to hit Youtube and Vimeo soon.
Along with all this, their recent donation to the Blender foundation of over $1m makes Epic one of today’s true digital disruptors.
