Behind the scenes to almost all the work we do at Escape Technology is the Operations & Logistics team. We’re a small bunch of people dedicated to supporting our sales and engineering departments, making sure our customers receive what they order within a reasonable amount of time.
I’ve been here for five years and can quite happily walk around our stock room talking about the various workstation configurations, storage solutions, and networking we have in there. But it wasn’t always the case.
One of the things that makes Escape the business we are is our people. We say it a lot. When I joined – with a music degree and a two year stint as a wedding supervisor my only experience – I knew next to nothing about technology. But the people here changed that. With industry peaking expertise on hand it took just two months for me to learn what I needed to know. Under the tutelage of Lee Danskin, who showed me how to take a workstation apart and put it back together, my skills jumped almost every quarter. It was a revelation to me at the time.
Now, five years later, my work in operations has given me great insight in to the industry. I’m never far from a few dozen workstations with all sorts of different configurations. It’s something that I make sure my team here is given the time to learn. For me, growing from Operations Assistant to Operations Manager has been an exciting journey. Escape has been full of these sorts of opportunities for each of our colleagues. So we’re always keeping up-to-date – growing our knowledge and improving processes as we go.
As a team, we’re here to make sure that all of our customers are kept in the loop and are looked after every step of the way. Our goal is to specify a down to the hour delivery slot for all shipping confirmations, which include packing slips so customers will know exactly what’s in the box. Or boxes.
The aim is to make it as easy as possible for someone ordering two dozen workstations, or a new server, or storage system. We’re the ones who take care of the how so you can focus on the day-to-day of your own business.
I’m proud to say that the operations department has come a long way these five years and our extensive knowledge of hardware and logistics is helping us achieve new levels of customer service to support our clients.
